Calcium Supplements and Coral Calcium The Difference

Why use coral calcium supplements?

Over half of all women take calcium supplements to try and prevent osteoporosis.  But while taking these supplements is pretty common, the side effects of calcium isn’t usually common knowledge.  These side effects can range from mild Ð like gas and bloating Ð to serious side effects.

Some serious side effects include:

Heart attacks and other cardiovascular issues.  Recent studies indicate that calcium supplements may lead to an increased risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular events.  The increased risk has been noted with supplements in the form of both calcium carbonate and calcium citrate, and especially with supplements that contain no supporting ingredients.

Kidney Stones.  Calcium supplements can also lead to an increased risk of kidney stones.  The most frequent offenders are calcium citrate and calcium carbonate.

Arthritis.  Certain forms of calcium supplements can lead to increased pain and swelling in their joints for arthritis sufferers.

How can these side effects be avoided? Researchers believe these side effects are a result of calcium remaining in the blood stream instead of going into your bones.

So the easiest way to avoid them is to take a safer, better absorbed form of calcium.  You want a form of calcium that’s been shown to have positive effects on bone health with vitamin D and will not increase the risks associated with calcium supplements.
